In response to: Merry Pranksters, the Summer of Love and a New Consciousness

I was there that day.
My friend and I got there a bit late so he and I walked down the center isle (which was empty, but filled up fast) and sat on the floor about 10 feet from where Dr. Leary was to sit down on stage and give his speech. I remember thinking how likeable he was.
What a great day that was for me.

How could you not forget the highlight of that week in May, 1967 when Timothy Leary, the Keeper of the Magic Tablets lectured in the school auditorium and dispensed his famous words "Tune In, Turn On, and Drop Out"?

That was a memorable week and included the Magic Bus driving through campus several times a day.
hehe ok been lurking and thought i would throw in a tuppence worth. August 24th now, about 6 weeks? am i counting right? there are so many things i could rant about here...i am paralyzed with the possibilities.
just this then :
for six weeks this is on the FRONT page of the website, i suppose there is someone in charge of the ...ahhh.. the person who... ok the fella whom from time to time is supposed to lookit the front page of the website and say it looks ok. that guy or gal. that job prolly pays well.

dear sir or madam, who's job that is, you are my newest role-model. thank you for giving me a new perspective. also, if you are forced (by your harsh taskmasters) to bend your fingers to the keys of a board and labor this little gem of an article into deleted space; i will be devastated.

I take perverse joy in checking to see if this item is STILL displayed on the front page. Maybe they got the date wrong and the reading will be in 2009?

This item needs to be proof-read, or at least spell-checked: The Impenatrable Forest should be The Impenetrable Forest.

I am a world away in New England and thoroughly enjoying the poetry. It is nice to know that I can still find something pleasant to read in a newspaper even when it is a place I only know from a distance.

Ryler Dustin IS so awesome - my husband and I named our daughter after him! (really - we did...but then again, he commanded it.) Hes going to be famous someday :)

I love the "baby" poem - its great to see younger poets entering these contests. I love reading what goes through their minds. :)

Thanks for putting these up here.

Not to be picky, but I DID have Robert Hass's name spelled correctly in the original! I'm thrilled to be in such good company. All these poems are great!
