Bandito’s Burritos, a downtown Bellingham restaurant founded in1995, closed over the weekend.
Owner Kristi Christianson left a note on the front door saying the business had a tough year financially, and with the death last week of one of her employees, decided that now was the time. The business was at 120 W. Holly St., near the Cornwall Avenue intersection.
“Being a part of the downtown community has been such a wonderful part of my life. I will miss all of my regular customers and regret not being able to say goodbye to all of you,” Christianson wrote in the note.
Christianson started working at Bandito’s at age 19, then took over ownership of Bandito’s at age 27 in December 2009.
According to the note on the door, Christianson plans to continue selling her salsa. For details and updates, visit banditosburritos.com. Also, everything at the restaurant is currently for sale.

Does anyone else notice a pattern going on here? Small business opens, and in some months or maybe a year, closes. Do we not have a taxpayer funded “Council for Economic Development” in Bellingham? What is it exactly that they do? Write a blog about small business survival? Where are they when all the businesses are closing? Again, what is it they do on a daily or weekly basis? And, small business owners. If you are not making money – there is a problem. Find out what it is. SCORE (composed of retired executives will help you for free). Don’t be arrogant. Seek help. If you start a small business, you don’t have the luxury of hiring a bunch of staff. You do it all! There is only one way to survive as a business. Make more money than you spend. That’s it. Figure out how to do it. This is ridiculous!
Dear World Traveller,
Please read the full article. Bandito Burritos was not new, and does not fit into your gloomy and snide assessment.
wordltraveller4U,
I agree with reallyseriously. Bandito’s had been around for years. I’d also suggest, in order to create a coherent argument, to proof read your messages before posting. “And, small business owners.” is not a sentence. Your message does not reflect someone concerned with Bandito’s fate, but is reflective of a strange political statement that does not seem to have been articulated as you may have wished.
