BBJToday: WinCo looking at former Joe’s building

Written by | The Bellingham Herald | March 29, 2010

According to BBJToday (The Bellingham Business Journal’s online site), the grocery store chain, which recently withdrew plans to build a store in Mount Vernon, is considering the former Joe’s Sporting Goods building on East Bellis Fair Parkway. Here’s the link to the post.

WinCo Spokesman Mike Read hasn’t returned a phone message and the company hasn’t applied for building permits, so I don’t know anything more than they continue to be interested in this market. The Joe’s building has been empty about a year, while the nearby buildings (the former Good Guys and Toys R Us) have been empty much longer, about four years each.

Wow easy jackass. No kidding thats why I said “the city”. And for your information the Herald editorial department came out and said they “did not support” it. So you get YOUR facts straight and quit acting like your in Jr. High. ALso, Im willing to bet you would not say what you said in front of my face. Big tough guy behind your little keyboard lol.

Would love to see WINCO come to Bellingham. We have shopped there for years in Oregon and drive down to Marysville on a monthly basis due to it being such a clean, well priced employee owned store.

rocky says from british columbia residents will likely to shop closer to the border

I agree with Cheryl! I am from the Portland area and not having Winco or a great couponing situation is really hurting our budget! They will learn quickly that they will need to bring more than one Winco in though!
