Bellingham airport sets record

Written by | The Bellingham Herald | July 1, 2009

While putting together information for Sunday’s Market Report, I learned that the Bellingham Airport set a new record for the number of people flying out in a month. Here are the numbers:

May 2009: 28,087
April 2009: 27,342
May 2008: 22,333

The May total is 25.8 percent higher than May 2008. It may increase even more in June, with Alaska now flying to Las Vegas and Allegiant ramping up its B-ham to Los Angeles flights.

are there plans to make the airport bigger? parking is a mess what about a parking garage? and what about a cross runway? are airport is to small!

  2. Hi Trevor,

It may come as a surprise but the airport just finished a parking lot expansion, adding about 700 spaces at the end of 2008. There are no immediate plans for a new runway that I know of.

why can’t alaska fly to alaska
    ?

  4. Hi Sarah,

I’m guessing there’s not enough demand to fly north, particularly since this aiport has a strong contingent of Canadians flying south for warm weather.
