The average price for a gallon of gas in the Bellingham metro area was $4.38 on Friday, May 18, according to AAA Washington’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The average is unchanged from Thursday, but is up 16 cents from a week ago. The big jump took place last weekend, jumping 12 cents between Friday and Monday. The record in Bellingham is $4.50, set in June 2008
Bellingham’s price remains the highest among Washington’s largest metro areas, with the next highest in Olympia, at $4.29 a gallon. Spokane remains the lowest among Washington metro areas, at $3.98 a gallon.
Bellingham diesel prices are averaging $4.51 a gallon on May 18, down a penny from the day before.

From the spot price of crude oil under $95 a barrel,
gas should be selling for about $3.20 a gallon.
Those who bleat that increased oil production will relieve gas prices take note – we are awash with the stuff.
It appears it depends on which side of the mountain one lives on. Today May 19 Bellingham Chevron exit 254 $4.599. Chevron in Ellensburg today $4.25. Oooppps, forgot to mention that is per gallon (yuck yuck yuck). Even Chevron in Anchorage, Alaska is cheaper than Bellingham.
Hi rvak3939,
Yes, it’s worth noting that on the east side of the mountain gas stations get much of the fuel from Rocky Mountain refineries, while stations on this side get gas from the West Coast refineries, which are dealing with capacity/maintenance issues.
