Fairhaven’s Pacific Chef to close after the holidays

Written by | The Bellingham Herald | December 4, 2012

The kitchen store Pacific Chef in Fairhaven announced it is having a going-out-of-business sale that will last through the holiday season.

Currently it’s a 10 percent off everything in the store sale, which is at 1210 11th St., near the Colophon Cafe and Village Books.

Vicki Rogers opened Pacific Chef  in 2004. She also owns the Halibut Henry’s cafes at the airport and the Bellingham Cruise Terminal as well as the Inside Passage gift store at the cruise terminal. In a brief message, Rogers said one factor for the closure was so she could spend more time with family.

Noooooooo. Say it’s not so. I love that store.

Another business bites the dust in the Obama economy but I suppose thats George Bush’s fault too! LOL

  3. John Galt says:

    That’s too bad, it’s a great store.

Kevin, She said it’s for personal reasons. You lose so much credibility making everything an Obama-bashing moment. I think it’s because of the proposed coal terminal, but you don’t hear me saying so.

…a great store and nice people. Sorry to see them close

  6. Bummer. Where else can one get their knives sharpened? Kevin?

  7. Seriously. First Tuesday of every month at Pacific Chef. Anywhere else that does that? John, Terry?

  8. trg says:

But wait a minute, Whatcom County has a booming economy, why pass up a chance to make some extra $$$?

  9. rjd says:

Hardware Sales, another great LOCAL business, sharpens knives any time for a very modest fee.

I have been wondering when this store would be going out of business for the past 2 years because it is NEVER OPEN! I am a frequent shopper in Fairhaven and have seen this store open probably only 10% of the time when I am there shopping (and this is on a weekly basis). I frequent Fairhaven Runner’s and Paper Dreams which are both on the same block. Those two stores are always open and Pacific Chef never was. You have to be open for business to make money! Even when Fairhaven held special shopping events and had special store hours in the downtown area, Pacific Chef was always the only business that remained closed. I am not surprised in the least that they are closing and frankly do not feel bad. I think it’s their own fault.

Quality Sewing And Vacuum (Formerly Boomer’s) , 426 East College Wy, Mt. Vernon

Not surprised this place is closing. I attempted to make a purchase there with a one hundred dollar bill and was told by the clerk that they “don’t take one hundreds.” It was an eighty dollar item!
