Haggen to close Lacey store

Below is a news release from Haggen announcing that it is closing its store in Lacey. The company closed five other stores between 2010 and 2011 – two in Oregon, one in Everett, one in Wenatchee  and one in Redmond.

BELLINGHAM – Haggen, Inc. announced today its decision to close the TOP Food & Drug store located in Lacey, Washington. The store is slated to close in four to six weeks.

“As a company, we continually evaluate our stores and identify opportunities to strengthen our overall business,” said John Turley, Co-President and Senior Vice-President of Operations at Haggen, Inc. “We make this decision reluctantly, knowing that it will impact our dedicated employees and loyal customers. We appreciate the patronage of our Lacey residents and hope they will consider visiting our Olympia location.”

The Lacey store is located at 5600 Martin Way and has 47 employees. Haggen, with the assistance of the Union, is diligently working to place employees at other Haggen stores.

Founded in 1933, Haggen, Inc. operates 28 supermarkets in Washington and Oregon under the TOP Food & Drug and Haggen Northwest Fresh names.
