After years of selling beads online, Karen Murphy has returned to the brick-and-mortar retail world with a new store in downtown Bellingham.
Oasis Bead Lounge opened last week at 1413 Cornwall Ave. (near the Dakota Art Store) and is scheduled to have a grand opening celebration on Saturday, March 30. The beads are from all over the world, including Eastern European, the Middle East and Africa. The store also has a variety of other products from the Middle East and Africa, including wood bowls, masks, brass objects, baskets and silver jewelry.
Murphy started a bead store called The Artifactory in Seattle back in 1990. After a few years she started selling products strictly on the Internet. She decided to reopen a store after moving to Bellingham. She plans on serving drinks and treats during the upcoming grand opening.
By June Murphy plans to offer classes and tutorials. For details about the company, including store hours, visit its Facebook page.
