New smoke shop in downtown Bellingham

Written by | The Bellingham Herald | February 9, 2010

A new smoke shop opened this week in downtown Bellingham.

Sugar on Magnolia Smoke Shop is in the former home of The Newstand at 111 E. Magnolia St. Along with cigarettes, the 2,000-square-foot store has hookahs, tobacco and its own humidor room with a selection of cigars.

Manager Ahmad Fatah said he’s expecting a diverse crowd, from college students on up. The store is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

That last review is fake, planted by the owner.
    I know this because,
The owner is not friendly or funny, he is mean and miserly. He will lie and cheat to get a sale, do not trust him.

The store at first glass appears to have good prices, until you find out these products are FAKES, COUNTERFEITS, REPLICAS. If you want to dump a ton of money on a piece of junk worth under 10% what you pay, come here.

If you want real tobacco, or real glass don’t set foot in this store.

I don’t know what alex’s problem is, But I’ve been in there tons of times. The manager is extremely friendly and the prices are very reasonable. They also have the cheapest cigarettes in Bellingham.

His waterpipes are fake as alex said, I looked around they are like a tenth of the right weight, and have mistakes. not sure about the cigs but really, why would you support fake goods when there are so many legit companies that charge so little more.

support authentic goods, and you say he’s friendly he obviously sounds like a con man

I have been in store to check the glass to see if there are fake or not. I have seen Mount Baker Glass. I called the blower and he confimed he sells to them. I checked out the ADS glass and it was heavy and the welds looked local. I checked out 5150, and Pure. Both were local blowers from California. I purchased a water pipe from there and it hits real good. The manager is fine, I just checked out the pieces and kept the questions to a minimum. While I was in the store I did see him get upset at a customer. The customer was referring to a BONG. We all know going into a smoke shop you cant refer to a bong or marijuana. The place has great prices and variety. I saw some lower end water pipes as well but the prices reflects the quality. Store is clean, product is great, store manager knowledge is mediocre. Best prices and selection on Vaps. Best head shop in town based on variety, quality, and price hands down…

Im sure his ‘glass’ is just fine. But his cigars are in as bad shape as his attitude. Ahmed seems to think that ‘bloom’ (the tiny white almost crystaline formations that form on cigars that are quite old) looks like the large, dusty patches (which is actually mold.) This is also the first cigar shop I have ever been too that will not let you touch the cigars (not even on the end where you are going to light the thing!) The manager angrily and aggressively confronted me when I opened the metal tube and examined the mold on it. When I pointed out that it was mold he became even more angry. His policy about touching the cigars is obviously an attempt to keep people from finding the mold spots.

If you are looking for a bong Im sure this is quite a place. If you are looking for a cigar dont even stop.

this is a good store every thing is good but i know that everything is real the glass pipes are real but a little low qaulity and the ciggarites are real to becus i have been the manger is a nice and funny guy and the owner is a cool guy to they have relly good cigars there not i say go check over there now brian the thing is i think for the first couple of weeks they bought old ones or cheap one

  8. Blake says:

Brian, being in the cigar business for many years, I stopped in this store and would like to report that these cigars that you think have mold are not moldy. This is bloom and most experienced cigar smokers would knifefight each other for these cigars. Bloom occurs when quality tobaccos are rolled together which is called a “marriaqe” and then stored under ideal conditions. This store has an excellent variety oigars and is one of the finest cigar shops north of the”Big City”.

  9. Paul LaFavering says:

That’s pretty sad that you can’t call something by it’s name. ” Hey could I look at one of those pipey tooby things that I use to blow bubbles in my bathtub? So, is it legal or not to sell paraphernalia? If it is, then what are you worried about? If not, then do you really think not calling it what it is, a bong, is going to fool anyone? Sheesh, stoners. Of course the senate just did the same thing. Mitch McConnel renamed cuts to defense, cuts to national security. That way the conservatives will think it’s homeland security…..right.
