Two Whatcom businesses land on ‘fastest growing’ list

A Bellingham wealth management company and a Ferndale  building management  firm are on a list of the 100 fastest-growing businesses in Washington state.

Saturna Capital Corp. ranked 47th while Management Services Northwest Inc. was 76th on the latest list of fastest-growing private companies. The list is put together annually by the Puget Sound Business Journal.

According to the list, Saturna Capital experienced 117 percent revenue growth from 2009 through 2011. During that time the company increased its revenues from $17.6 million to $38.3 million and added eight employees. Saturna is an  investment firm that has more than $4 billion in assets under management. It manages Amana, Sextant, and Idaho funds. The company is at 1300 N. State St. in Bellingham; the company’s president is Jane Carten.

Revenue for Management Services Northwest Inc. jumped 84 percent between 2009 and 2011, from $4.9 million to $9 million.  The company has also gone through a significant expansion of its workforce, increasing the number of employees by 77. The company’s workforce at the end of 2011 was 250. The company is at 2257 Northgate Spur in Ferndale and the CEO is Janelle Bruland.

Method Homes LLC of Seattle topped the Puget Sound Business Journal’s list, increasing revenue by 784 percent. The company has a facility in the Ferndale area.

    The Amana fund is the true performer for Saturna. The fund is managed according to the principles of Islam, and infidel funds should take notice!
    with all the talk of local christian businesses, I wonder why saturna will not glorify allah by exclaiming the virtues of a sharia based investment fund?
