I believe that Zip Realty changed the status of their workforce from employees to independent contractors to avoid paying them medical benefits. Therefore, it doesn’t appear that anyone was fired or laid off.
Frankly, I wasn’t aware that any real estate agents were still employees. Nearly every real estate brokerage hires their agents as independent contractors.
