Bellingham boating company selling clothing products at Bellis Fair

February 8th, 2010 4 PM PST by Dave Gallagher - The Bellingham Herald

Here’s a press release about a Bellingham company that is selling some of its clothing products at Bellis Fair this month:

The two-year old boating and lifestyle clothing and accessories company, Nautigirl Brands, LLC of Bellingham is opening a kiosk at Bellis Fair Mall for the month of February to capture Valentine’s Day and Winter Olympics traffic.  Featuring everything from athletic style jackets, tank tops, vests and hats, the company has expanded into logo martini glasses, bags and bottle cozies.  Most sport the “Nautigirl” wheel logo or the newer “Nautiboy” anchor logo.
“We had such success at the Seattle Boat Shows the past two years, we decided to expand the line in Bellingham,” said
Christine Palmerton, CEO and Founder of Par Yacht Charters and Nautigirl Brands, LLC.  “Customers have been purchasing our products locally at the Bay to Baker Trading Company in Fairhaven and at our yacht charter office on Harbor Loop.”
The company has also had success selling their line at The Tacoma Yacht Club, Roche Harbor Sportswear, and Union Bay Steamship in Canada
Palmerton, who serves on the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellingham and Bellingham Bay Rotary, started the company after getting requests from yacht charter customers for appropriate clothing for their boating trips.  After creating a few jackets for her office, the company has grown slowly, adding new products a little at a time.  Sales at  the 2010 Seattle Boat Show tripled over last year.
“Whether or not it becomes a national phenomenon,” says Palmerton, “It’s great fun for us watching people get so excited over the brand and come back every year to see what we have added.”
