BELLINGHAM — Police are searching for a beer thief who threatened to shoot a Fairhaven gas station attendant this weekend.

The man walked out of a Yorky’s Market, 1501 12th St., with a case full of beer at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, March 17, said Bellingham Police Sgt. Ken Brown.

An employee, a woman in her 40s, chased him out to the parking lot, demanding he pay for the beer. Police believe he made furtive movements to his waistband, possibly searching for a gun. He threatened to shoot, then ran off.

She described him as a white man in his 50s with a Russian-sounding accent. He wore a dark sweatshirt and tan pants.

Police haven’t recovered any clear security images of the man.

Anyone with tips should call Bellingham police 360-778-8800. After hours, call 911.
