Confirmed: Alcohol led to fatal crash on Custer School Road

A toxicology report confirmed Joel T. Crowley, 72, had been drinking alcohol before he rolled through the intersection of Custer School and Birch Bay-Lynden roads last month.

Crowley was killed in the crash Sept. 3. Here’s the story we ran when it happened.

Whatcom County Medical Examiner Gary Goldfogel confirmed the results of the toxicology report Monday morning, Oct. 1.
