If you’re passing through Arlington today on your way to Thanksgiving dinner, expect some long delays on Interstate 5.

A Snohomish County Sheriff’s motorcycle deputy crashed on the freeway near Arlington, leading to backups that are miles long.

It’s unclear how badly the deputy is hurt, the Everett Herald reported. The state Department of Transportation is estimating the scene could be cleared for traffic by 11 a.m.

Wsahington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary has been tweeting from the scene.

Here are some shots of the traffic jam, borrowed from the DOT.

If, like me, you’re wondering whether this accident is affecting north or southbound, you need to scroll all the way down to the little traffic map to see that it is affecting southbound traffic. Kind of an odd way of getting that little important fact across…oh well, i hope the deputy is okay and that traffic is “normal” by the time i need to get on the road.

  3. Why drive motorcycles in adverse weather conditions if you dont have too? Hope the officer is alright..

Good thing cops are such superior drivers they are exempt from the laws the rest of us obey. I’m betting this cop was texting while riding his bike in crappy weather.
