Pair of indecent exposures reported in Bellingham

Police took two reports of indecent exposure in Bellingham a few hours apart Wednesday evening, Aug. 1.

Police aren’t sure if the cases are connected.

Two 10-year-old girls spied a man in his 20s exposing himself and masturbating about 6 pm. off a trail on the west side of Lake Padden, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young.

Their parents reported it to police about three hours later — and it appeared the girls had been too horrified by what they saw, Young said, to offer a good description to investigators.

At 11:30 p.m., two women at an apartment in the 3100 block of Ferry Avenue looked out on their balcony and saw a man wearing a bandanna that covered his whole face, except for his eyes. He was masturbating. By the time the cops arrived, he was gone.

The suspect was described as a skinny white man in his 20s, Young said. He wore dark long pants and a dark long-sleeved shirt. Western Washington University put out this campus-wide alert.

If you have any leads in either case, call 911.
