Rapidfire scanner chatter for Friday late afternoon

Via police scanner traffic:

10 a.m.-ish First responders were doing CPR on a man in his 60s (?) who passed out at the Department of Licensing on Cordata Parkway. Did not hear if he survived, but dispatchers said he had a steady pulse at some point later on. It was a busy day at the DOL, because, as KGMI radio reported in all caps on the station’s website, license plate renewals are going to be more expensive on Monday.

A lot of weird ones this afternoon in a 20-minute window.

4:45 p.m. Two women in their 30s were fighting at the intersection of East Holly Street and Railroad Avenue. Police had a hard time tracking them down.

4:46 p.m. A man — “35ish, medium build” and with a very specific clothing description I couldn’t scribble down in time — was “asking some odd questions of park-goers.” He appeared intoxicated.

4:47 p.m. The dad of a 10-year-old boy who was assaulted in a dispute over a scooter was “quite irate” as he lectured one of the kids who attacked his son. The confrontation was at a local skate park.

5:03 p.m. Motorcyclist struck by car at Meridian Street and Kellogg Road. He was up, but “limping around,” a minute later. He also had an injury to his right shoulder.

5:05 p.m. Ambulance headed to JJ’s on Holly for a woman who passed out.

An hour of Monday morning scanner chatter

Via police scanner traffic:

9 a.m. A 10-year-old was hit in the head with a rock — don’t know how — and was losing “a serious amount of blood.” Radio traffic was muffled, but I believe it was on Mount Baker Highway south of Kendall.

9:20 a.m. An outside fire reported near the top of Sumas Mountain, by the radio tower.

9:30 a.m. A pair of construction workers were fighting near (what sounded like) the end of a driveway in (what sounded like) Bellingham. “There’s also ladders being thrown,” dispatchers said.

9:40 a.m. A bicyclist was struck by a beige Toyota Camry at the intersection of Cordata Parkway and West Kellogg Road. The cyclist was knocked down, but by the time an ambulance arrived he was conscious, oriented and sitting on the curb.

Edit: And here are a couple more.

11 a.m. Possible drug deal in front of a Catholic church on the Lummi Reservation. Witness saw an exchange, then both men walked to a grove of apple trees and crouched down.

11:50 a.m. Dispatchers figuring out how to deal with domestic dispute: ”Perhaps you can phone Tony and get to the bottom of these shenanigans.”

A 60-year-old woman who fell and hit her head while aboard a yacht near Birch Bay was rushed to the hospital by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The woman suffered a large gash on her head about 1:30 p.m. The 65-foot yacht met up with Coast Guard crews about five miles west of Birch Bay.

Here’s the full press release from the U.S. Coast Guard.

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard medevaced an injured woman from a recreational vessel in the northern San Juan Islands, Wash., Monday.

Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, located in Seattle, received a request for assistance from the vessel Siesta at approximately 1:30 p.m., stating a 60-year-old woman on board had fallen and hit her head, suffering a severe gash to her forehead.

Sector Puget Sound diverted a 45-foot response boat crew from Station Bellingham, Wash., already on a routine patrol in the area.

The crew arrived on scene approximately 5 miles west of Birch Bay, Wash., took the woman aboard and transferred her to awaiting EMS in Blaine, Wash.
