Wind advisory in effect Monday afternoon

Expect the wind to pick up again this afternoon, with gusts of about 45 mph moving through northwest Washington starting at 2 p.m.

The wind should ease off toward midnight.

The National Weather Service shouted this advisory:

…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING.

* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS…BELLINGHAM…FRIDAY HARBOR…MOUNT VERNON…WHIDBEY ISLAND AND PORT TOWNSEND.

* TIMING…THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* WIND…SOUTHERLY WINDS INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH THIS AFTERNOON WITH THE WINDS CONTINUING INTO THE EVENING HOURS.

* IMPACTS…STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL HAVE THE EFFECT OF PRUNING DEAD AND DRY BRANCHES FROM TREES. FALLING BRANCHES MAY RESULT IN LOCAL POWER OUTAGES AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS OF 45 TO 57 MPH ARE LIKELY.

    This is why I wait to clear the debris. A few more windy hours to knock off the remaining leaves and needles and a few more to clear the drive….my fall work is almost done!
