Bellingham poet Jack McCarthy’s Last Reading

Written by | The Bellingham Herald | October 22, 2012

The nationally known Boston poet, Jack McCarthy, who retired to Western Washington some years ago, is the featured poet at poetrynight on Monday evening, Oct. 22, at the Amadeus Project, 1209 Cornwall Ave., across from the Leopold, and his program will begin at 9 p.m. The poetrynight audience usually begins to gather between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Jack is a wonderfully entertaining poet, and has won poetry performance competitions from coast to coast. He has a new volume of poetry, which will be for sale. Also, we should keep in mind that Jack is expecting this to be his last poetry reading in Bellingham, and may well be his last public performance ever—he is being treated as a hospice patient, and he doesn’t think he’ll be around much longer.
