WWU students produce short film on Bellingham guitar craftsman Devin Champlin

As finals week nears, three students in Western Washington University’s Journalism Department recently shared the final project from their Visual Storytelling class, taught by Professor Stephen Howie.

The film, a glimpse into the world of guitar crasftsman or “luthier” Devin Champlin, was created by Laura Going, Samantha Heim and Lauren Stelling.

Champlin’s shop is tucked away in the basement of Make.Shift, Bellingham’s all-ages music venue that also provides local artists and musicians with practice space, art studios and more.

If you haven’t been to the space, stop by or check it out during the next Downtown Bellingham Art Walk on Friday, April 5. Make.Shift is located at 306 Flora St., next to the Whatcom Museum Lightcatcher building.
