If you could choose any performer to come to Mount Baker Theatre-Bellingham who would you choose?

Brad Burdick, executive director of Mount Baker Theatre, posted on Facebook about the recent B.B. King show. You can see his comments below:

“Thanks to everyone who has chimed in about BB King. As the Executive Director I’m the one responsible for selecting performers. B.B. King has been an artist I have long wanted to bring to the Mount Baker Theatre. We normally go through an extensive process of research and negotiation before we secure artists. This show was no exception. B.B. King by almost all accounts is a living legend. He continues to command a high artist fee and regularly sells out venues larger than ours. And, I received glowing reports from my counterparts who had seen him perform in the past year. Ultimately, none of that matters, because I, like many of you, was disappointed and saddened to see such an iconic legend perform the way he did Saturday night.

The feeling in the pit of my stomach at the end of the night was just like the one I got watching my favorite team loose in the final seconds of a championship game. It was painful, disappointing, and uncomfortable and it didn’t go away easily. It reminds me that sometimes, in spite of all the planning and organizing, live performances just don’t turn out the way you expect. As time goes by I’ll try to look on the positive…I got to see BB King on the Mount Baker Stage. I’ll hang onto that as I start the search for a better Gala performer for us to enjoy next year. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Brad Burdick
Executive Director”
