Here’s the press release from the Mount Baker Theatre, which is presenting the 17th season of its Education Series:
Last year we welcomed nearly 15,000 area students to a variety of stimulating programs.
The sixth show in our nine show 2012-2013 Education series, The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs will be performed by American Masterpieces Touring Artist (as designated by the National Endowment for the Arts) Dallas Children’s Theatre’s National Tour at the Mount Baker Theatre on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10:00 am & 12:15 pm. Time and American Theatre magazines have called Dallas Children’s Theatre “one of the leading professional family theatres in the United States,”
Based on the hilariously popular book, the play begins where the book leaves off, with the trial of a much-maligned citizen of the piggy public. Alexander T. Wolf is on trial for the murder of two of the three little pigs. However, he finally gets to tell his side of the story and YOU get to determine the ending of the play in this rock hip-hop-ity musical that will blow the hair off your chinny chin chin! A thrilling courtroom “dram-edy”…with music! And ham!
Tickets to The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs can be purchased for $5. Tickets are $6.50 for students in the Bellingham School District. The additional $1.50 offsets a portion of the district transportation costs covered by Mount Baker Theatre. Tickets to the 12:15pm show are reduced $2.
Additionally, on March 8 from 4-5pm in MBT’s Encore Room Dallas Children’s Theatre will host an hour long creative dramatics workshop based on the performance of The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. Participating children will have the opportunity to work with two of the actor/teachers from the show as they warm up their bodies and imaginations with theatre games, try on the characters, act out scenes, and experience the Three Little Pigs “from the inside” by becoming part of the story.
Limited to just 30 children in grades 1-3, this exclusive engagement with top-tier teachers is sure to send your child home wanting to dramatize her storybooks and perform them for you! The cost of the workshop is $10 per child.
