Students in Kansas have created a funny YouTube video in protest to the most recent school lunch guidelines from the Obama Administration. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IB7NDUSBOo. Do they have a point? Or do you tend to agree with Jamie Oliver, a TED Prize wish winner, who supports the new school lunch guidelines. He believes our nation’s food culture is abusive to children and the leading cause of death in our nation. Take a look at Jamie Oliver’s TED Prize wish presentation: Teach every child about food. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go_QOzc79Uc
The new regulations are designed to make school food healthier and more nutritious, ultimately limiting caloric and sodium intake. Hip-hip hooray is what I say! I don’t consider feeding kids junk food abusive but adults are responsible for the health and well-being of children and what we dish them up in school sends a message to them about how much we care. What do you think?
