The book My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza has been a favorite of mine for several years, because it’s laugh out loud hilarious (preschool through grade 2). And the feast element of the story makes it a great read for the month of November. An innocent (looking) pig goes to Mr. Fox’s house by mistake, and the fox thinks it’s his lucky day. After all, how often does dinner come knocking at your door?! But dinner has to be put off, because the piglet is quick to point out that it might be a good idea for Mr. Fox to give him a bath, fatten him up, and massage him a little to ensure a nicer, more tender roast. The poor fox perseveres with his feast in mind, but by the end of the book it’s apparent whose lucky day it really is. I’m laughing out loud just writing about it!
We all have fond memories of reading picture books as children, either with parents curled up on the couch or before bed, by teachers in elementary school, or during library story times.
