Trying to teach the cubbies good manners, like saying ‘please’ and’ thank you’ or how to share with family and friends? Or not to wander away into strange bears’ houses? Well, that’s not really so much of a problem, but we are sure enjoying Mo Willem’s stories: Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs takes the familiar tale and puts a new twist on it. The dinosaurs deliberately make up 3 dishes of chocolate pudding and leave their house open to lure a delicious little girl in to eat, sit and fall asleep. But luckily she hears them and makes a hasty escape, because really the chairs and beds are too big anyway, for a child or cubby. It’s all deliciously silly and we enjoyed it just as much as we have enjoyed Mo Willems Pigeon tales.
But back to the good manners: Do you know about The Duckling Gets a Cookie!? and Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! They always make us laugh and then we can talk about the polite way to ask for something we want, or how to share with others. Like all of Mo Willems’ books, they are worth checking out!
