Love is an expression that is taught. Protecting your children from the wild world is not always possible but at least they have you to run home to. When a child is worried, fearful, stressed, angry or frustrated their little bodies are working overtime to make sense of things. They become unbalanced like a washing machine with too large of a load for its capacity. This makes thinking difficult minimizing the function of the brain to work on solutions.
This is when everyone just needs to take a break. Give your child space to work things out. After a little while when the atmosphere is settled down it is a good idea to have some art materials available. You can promote harmony by watching for your child’s mood patterns. It’s a good time to work on valentine cards. Creative learning comes through feelings of acceptance and love, being valued and understood. That love produces the highest form of learning. There is nothing finer than getting a hug from a child. It is your reward for the hard work you’ve done to help that child understand they are loved and cared for. The little washing machine is working with a balanced load again and the production of beautiful art and expression is humming along nicely.
