Crossfox/Malarkey/Voyage at the Nightlight
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009“In what will prove to be one of the top releases of the year, Crossfox really lets it rip on their new self-titled record. Goosebumps shot from my emo arms as “Imitation,” the second song of the album, exploded from my stereo, evoking memories of early Smiths with brilliant, raw, mic-in-the-middle-of-the-room stuff. The record continues along those lines throughout, with finely crafted songs chock full of neat hooks and clever lyrics. I really enjoyed “Part of You” and its Guided by Voices groove and DIY sound that is so refreshing these days.”
