Friends plan memorial for soldier raised in Concrete, WA

Michael Frank of Seattle wrote to The Bellingham Herald on behalf of the friends and family of CW2 Douglas M. Vose:

“Doug was a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier from Concrete, WA, who was killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan in 2009.

“We, his friends and family, are embarking on a project that will memorialize Doug in his hometown. Currently, we are in a fundraising mode for the memorial and have raised one-quarter of the estimated $40,000 the memorial will require. We are coordinating this from truly an international perspective, from his brother stationed in Korea, to myself in Seattle, and Doug’s fellow soldiers from their base in Germany, and points in between.”

The fundraising website that contains information about the project and the planned dedication ceremony is: http://www.gofundme.com/1sqyh8.

Doug’s memorial website that contains his story is: http://memorialwebsites.legacy.com/dougvose/homepage.aspx.
