Commission to take testimony on crabbing proposals

The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will take public comment on a proposed policy change and new personal use season structure for the Puget Sound Dungeness recreational crab fisheries at its Saturday, Aug. 7 meeting session in Olympia.

You can find the draft policy on line at http://wdfw.wa.gov/commission/policies/draft_c-3609_16jul2010.pdf. The alternative season structures are available for review at: http://wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings/2010/06/ps_dungeness_alternatives.pdf.

If you cannot attend the August meeting, you still can make your opinions known by e-mailing them to commission@dfw.wa.gov or sending a hard copy to the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission, 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091. Comments will be accepted through Monday, Aug. 2 for inclusion in the public record for the August meeting.

Final commission action on the Puget Sound Dungeness crab management policy and adoption of a 2011 recreational crab season will take place at its October public meeting.
