Local Photographer Dylan Hallett follows skiers through the Mt. Baker Ski Area and back country

Dylan Hallet is an 18-year-old aspiring photographer who lives in Fairhaven. He submitted a few of his photos from Mt. Baker Ski Area and the nearby backcountry that are displayed on our blog.

Q. When did you start taking photos?
A. I began experimenting with photography around four years ago, but really got involved with it in the last two years.

Q. What is your favorite thing/place to photograph in Whatcom County?
A. Shooting skiing/snowboarding has definitely proved to be the most rewarding, and there is no place I would rather be than on my splitboard in the mountains. Snow-covered peaks provide jaw-dropping landscapes, and when you incorporate a rider into the mix, the opportunities for inspiring images are endless.

Q. What inspires your photography?
A. The natural world, and time spent exploring new landscapes, whether it be hiking, biking, snowboarding or surfing.

Q. What is your favorite lens to shoot with?
A. I shoot primarily with a Canon 15-85mm, mostly due to the versatility of the lens.

Q. Where can people see more of your photography?
A. You can check out some of my work on the Mt. Baker Ski Area website gallery, my Facebook page Dylan Hallett Photography, as well as my website www.dylanhallett.com, which is in the making.
