We omitted the website for Barry Buchanan’s reelection campaign the first time we published this announcement. Here it is: http://www.barryforbellingham.net/
City Council member Barry Buchanan announces his campaign kickoff, and some labor union endorsements:
Bellingham – Barry Buchanan announced that he is kicking off his re-election campaign for Bellingham City Council Ward 3, at an event he is hosting at the Squalicum Boathouse on Thursday May 19, 2011 from 5 pm to 7pm. “Join us for an evening of great food, conversation, and support for Bellingham,” Buchanan said.
Buchanan also states that he has received several early endorsements: “I am really proud to announce endorsements from the Bellingham Police Guild, The Bellingham/Whatcom County Firefighters Local 106, and Teamsters Local 231.”

Barry has done a great job on the City Council. Wish you the best in your re-election efforts.
Thank you Barry for running again.
You’ve been a “breath of fresh air” on the Council.
Edward…
In what way? Please explain how Barry has distinguished himself on the council. What new or improved things has he taken the lead on, as a breath of fresh air?
RM, you dare to question the narrative? I think maybe a breath of fresh air as in if one were in Rotorua and the wind was from the East and then it changed to from the NE so that not as much of that sulfurous air got to the downtown/lakefront….
But one thing I have noticed from the dodgy Linville quarter is that they all seek a breath of fresh air and I think it is a break from their air blowing back in our faces that we seek a respite…Barry is also counting on riding Kelli’s supposed ground swell back in…personally I’m hoping for a flat surf…
I like Barry since I can’t find anything to not like.
He seems thoughtful enough but I can’t vouch for the freshness of his breath.
I actually like the entire City Council just as they are – no girls allowed.
Please tell me if the Teamsters Local 231 is on of the unions that support the Gateway Pacific Project. I need to know because if so I will not vote for him
Unions’ mission is to support jobs for their members. They are doing their mission if they support a project that will get their people working. If there is a good reason not to do a project, it will have to be raised by someone else.
Richard is right,
the unions do not care if they are employed dismembering small children and baby animals – they just want to work.
Unions used to be about responsible decision making, recognizing pigs in the poke and taking principled stands …… Alas the Longshoreman are another breed, and always have been about short sighted, I’ll thought out actions without regard for the community in which they live….it’s On the Waterfront….here
bad edit, should read….”…it’s not On the Waterfront around here…..”
There’s a big difference between the trade unions and public employee’s unions, the trades are blue collar workers, many NRA members whose jobs come from building progress and the public’s feed off the tax payers!
