From the 1996 election up through and including 2008., affluent counties in the East, Midwest and West have trended Democratic, largely through distaste for the religious and cultural conservatives whom voters there have seen (not without reason) as dominant in the Republican party. Now, with the specter of higher tax rates and a vastly expanded public sector, they may be—possibly—headed in the other direction. An interesting trend to watch.

Um, I think someone’s computer is still on PDT. It’s 9:26 am right now, so your post will be made 8 minutes in the future.

Amend that — someone’s computer is on some very bad crack. It’s not 11:06 am anywhere in the world right now.

These are great photos Sam.
One party: a nearly empty room with people all dressed up.
Another party: packed and happy with people from all walks of life.
Which party looks more fun?

Why didn’t the Conservative pro-Businessers adopt an eatery for the evening?
Not only does it help the restaurant,
it welcomes in casual supporters and enlivens all of downtown.
It also makes defeat so much less Formal.

SQ, the room was standing room only, BTW!
And it was catered, so there was support given to a local restaurant for sure.
Notice I never make fun of the other side, its wayyyy beneath me!

The balloons were a nice touch.

SRO?
Not according to the pictures.
A closed-door, invite-only catered affair sorta analogous to the style of government they represent.
You aren’t good enough to be here!
