Pike’s key to the city offer to Daily Show host makes top yearly stories

December 22nd, 2009 5 PM PST by Sam Taylor - The Bellingham Herald

This weekend, I’m told we’ll be running a list of our Top 10 most popular stories of 2009 based on online page views. It’s an interesting list.

I usually don’t make them.

But this year, “Taylor” shows up next to the third most popular story of the year. That story? Nothing to do with city or county budget deficits. Nothing on open public records or public meetings. It wasn’t landlord licensing. Or elections.

Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike’s facetious offer of a key to the city to “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, however, was of interest to the masses. You can reread my story on that, right here.

You heard it here first.

I know all the lefties all over the country including right here in bham will be down playing the biggest phenomenon of the year and it was just as much true here as it was everywhere else:

    The Tea Party Movement!!

And what y’alls lefties better understand now, y’alls haven’t seen nothin yet baby!

You may be right about that one.
The Tea Party will be the demise of Republicans since not even the most fearful voter will embrace their nonsense of replacing that party’s slate with their lunatic toadies.
Gone are the days when a few loud scared white folks could drive moderate candidates out of office.

Well ciz, is agreeing with me, wow!

Well you know if the republicans want to be democratic light then let me be the first thru the door for the wake! Either the republicans find their conservative roots or IMHO they will be finding the same future as the whigs or moose party has in the past.

Y’alls know how I’s knows that something is finding the target of truth, its when those without real arguments can only try to paint racism into something it ain’t, you see racebaiting to me is tied to the hip with racism cause I’s have found some of the biggest racist are also the biggest racebaiters!

Show me one Black face in the Sea of Tea.
The pictures of Obama with a bone in his nose,
    as Hitler
or painted in a Stalin Pose not included.

Poor ciz, you are being narrow minded agin, there a whole bunch of people of color who support the Tea movement and are conservative!

    You ask for one;

If you need more, just ask! My man Glenn did a whole show of conservative’s of color many of who were Tea supporters!

Of course when there is a Tea party event anyone can come, cause it is usually in a public place, I have even seen liberals there, so I’s reckon there are fringe in both directions, but if by using a brush to paint many with the view of a very small few is a goal of being truthful that me friend is easy to prove false! But then agin; is it the truth you seek or a particular spin you weave?

Nope, I’m always happy to admit I’m wrong.
If Glenn Beck says it’s so,
    I’m sold!
    Happy Holiday!

Well there’s Ron Christie, the Oreo Republican pundit. In fact they were able to clone a number of boys from \Brazil with darker features for the election–and the appointment of Michael
Steele was a stroke of ….. Well lets just say, if the Presidential candidate hadn’t been black, how many think that Steel would have been their first choice for chair of the RNC. Or if Hilary hadn’t been running would McCain have felt the need to go to the bassackwoods of Alaska to find a running mate dumb enough to go along on his delusional ride? And Glenn Beck, what a gift…….One couldn’t conjure up a better example of the bankruptcy of conservative thought if one tried.
