Colbert takes aim at R-71

Our little piece of America has been noticed by Stephen Colbert, satirical conservative talk show host of Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report.” Colbert recently decided to “report” and comment on Washington Referendum 71, which, if affirmed would uphold the “everything but marriage” domestic partnership legislation for homosexual and senior couples.

    He’s right.
The only real remedy is to approve the referendum and then it won’t matter who signed the petitions.
    Even if they were Scandinavians.

    Colbert at his best!

Exposes the multiple lies of the anti-civil rights homophobes in their desperate fight against equal rights for ALL our citizens.

Thanks for posting this one Sam. I am a Stewart/Colbert junkie, but had missed it!

Shucks, I was going to post the Youtube link to the “No on R-71″ video Colbert used, but the user went and made the video private just this afternoon! I couldn’t tell if the video was a joke or serious… but if they went and made it private I’m guessing the ad was serious.

    “Gaystapo”! :-)
“These people can stay in the closet that the Gay people have abandoned.”
    Good idea!

Wait wait wait, I take it back. Looking at the website Protect Marriage Washington, the group that supposedly created that commercial, they have three ads for viewing, but none of them are this one.

However, this ad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPPiTJY-Rkg) bears some striking similarities to the ad Colbert showed, but the statements were equally as outlandish. I think it was a parody.

    BhamBill,

I think Colbert has yet to outdo himself and his performance at the White House press corps dinner in 2006.

That one performance cemented Colbert as a national hero for all time!
And right in their own house too!
