PDC says complaint against Caskey-Schreiber not valid

August 31st, 2009 6 PM PST by Sam Taylor - The Bellingham Herald

The state’s elections watchdog will not take any action on a complaint against Whatcom County Councilwoman Laurie Caskey-Schreiber, officials have announced.

Local conservative Gary Lysne filed the complaint with the state Public Disclosure Commission after seeing political advertising asking voters to “re-elect” Caskey-Schreiber.

The councilwoman is currently the District 2 representative but is giving up that seat and is now seeking the At-Large spot.

This was a no-brainer (in more ways than one.) This Lysne guy based his whining on an old law; she did not violate the rewritten law which is currently on the books.

Obviously this was a typically filthy political stunt from the right wing. They got what they wanted when the story broke about the complaint, which threw some mud on Caskey-Schreiber. Even the rightwingnuts knew it wouldn’t stick, but then these gutter tactics are the main reason these people lose again and again and again…

    RE-ELECT LAURIE!!!

Nothing is as embarrassing as making a complaint and being told to sit down and shut up.

Isn’t that like saying it’s not a re-election because a redistricting moved a congressperson from district 2 to 7 or something like that?
