Happy Wednesday

November 18th, 2009 10 AM PST by Sam Taylor - The Bellingham Herald

Hello to all, I hope you’re well.

My apologies for the lack of posting this week. I’ve been out still continuing to battle allergy symptoms. It hasn’t been a good year for me and my eyes. Basically, they get so dry they’re blurry, and I have trouble seeing, especially things like laptop screens.

Today I’m back and I’m simply going to push through. I’ve got a few things I have to catch up on so posting may continue to be light.

For now, a tidbit about your three new County Council members-elect. It seems that Ken Mann, Kathy Kershner and Bill Knutzen have all met for lunch recently and pledged to have cordial relationships while having a healthy debate of the issues. We’ve got less than a month and a half before they’re officially council members, so it should be interesting to see their initial interactions.

You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed. Both comments and pings are currently closed.

My ex-wife and I had a similar pledge,
quickly forgotten over the ownership of my business.
Maybe the lack of personal finances in the equation will save this pact.

A newbe summit it must have been!

He who knows all and sees all (with a blur), ole man we all missed you!

    I have started a new website;

http://www.make-ST-a-mr-4eyes.com, all contributions are tax deductable and couldn’t go to a better cause!

LOL @ the Web site, AFY!

I do wear glasses, but they broke recently unfortunately. My insurance doesn’t get me new hardware until the beginning of next year, but I found a Web site online that got me $13 replacements that should be here within two weeks.

Even with glasses, however, the dry eyes still cause blurry vision and it’s a pain to have to basically sit on top of my laptop to see it.

So far I’s raise $0.11 and the lady that gave that liked the picture I had of you with the blue tennies, it reminded her of a lost luv! But I’s felt as if she could use some spectacle’s herself!

Methinks I’s can improve upon standing on the corner of Bakerview & Guide!

Will give updates as progress is accomplished!

In my experience, Ken Mann and Bill Knutzen were both reasonable people, I’m sure that things will be Crawford/Bjornson esque

This is good news, I wonder if they talked about who might chair the next county council came up.

Am I the only one who’s having a heck of a time moving around on the herald’s site today?
I can’t get anywhere besides Sam’s blog and the front page of the Herald.
I am also on the herald’s recipe email list and I can’t open that link either.

I’m able to link to other websites, so I don’t think it’s at my end.

Camille, I’ll e-mail your issues to executive editor julie shirley.

Camille: We are having server issues today, but it’s not impacted my opening stories. It is impacting Q&A formats. Today’s recipe newsletter hasn’t come out yet, but I’ll check that too when it does (my morning newsletter opened fine). If you can tell me what you couldn’t get to, I’ll report it as further trouble. Thanks for alerting us to the issue.

I can’t get that link to work, AFY!!!
The one time I’m actually interested in your link,
    I can’t access it.

I thought that I may have been voted out of the club by the delicate flowers over there! ;-)

    Julie,
As long as we’re discussing issues here, the time stamp on all the blogs is messed up.
I have to count on my fingers if I want to determine the correct time for when other comments may have been posted.
Others have commented on the same issue, too.
    Thanks!

Is anyone else interested/curious who will be selected to chair the next county council? Why am I so fascinated by this?

Hearing that Mann met with the other new council members almost makes me wonder if he’s postering for the chair position. He may be a new council member but he’s had experience chairing these types of bodies before and he ran on more of a center-left position.

I’m assuming the first action taken by the new council will be to elect a chair. This first decision will probably come down to Brenner as the “swing” vote.
