There is one thing Jay has in common with Sarah Palin, they both quit their offices and left the people high and dry who elected them!

I wonder if Sarah costs the tax payers of Alaska a million bucks like what Jay is gonna do to us?

  2. Sam Crawford says:

I assume the Downtown Bellingham Partnership does not receive public funds, since it appears they’re now organizing events for political candidates. Prior to this I was under the impression they were promoting business and a prosperous urban core.

My bad – for not previously knowing better. Have a nice “walk” around our fair city Jay!

  3. rubiebegonia says:

Since when does anyone need a special dispensation for a walk downtown with a candidate of any type?

  4. Dan Pike says:

I know of a number of nonprofits and organizations around the state who have met with one or both candidates; generally because it was requested by the candidate(s).

  5. rubiebegonia says:

I know a councilman that receives public money and that doesn’t stop him from advancing a private agenda.

  6. Camille says:

    I know one too!

  7. AFY says:

Methinks if a organization gets public funds and those funds are being used for something different than what that public organization gave those funds for then that public organization very well should & can consider to cut those funds off.

Using public funds to support one particular political candidate over another isn’t something neither the D’s or the R’s would like if it was an R or a D of the other party the public funds was a going, don’t ya know!

  8. Hue Beattie says:

Glad to see a candidate takiing an interest in our down town. Maybe Mr Crawfish could walk the sheepdog around Toad Lake so He won’t be bothered by all the use of the downtown sidewalks .

  9. rubiebegonia says:

I’ll bet Hue’s post gets the ax, but the image of a crawfish walking our sheepdog is priceless.

  10. AFY says:

Hey I’s do it, all it would take is enough public funds to buy some beer afterwards!

  11. Sam Crawford says:

I just received a very nice phone call from Rob Camandotta, the director for the Downtown Bellingham Partnership. Along the lines of Dan Pike’s comments above, Rob indeed clarified that the event was proposed by the Inslee campaign to which the DBP was happy to oblige regardless of the party affiliation or political position of the candidate. They’d be happy to host something similar for Rob McKenna or any other candidate if requested.

From my perspective, the choice of words in the Inslee press release “Organized by Downtown Bellingham Partnership and led by…” did not convey the role of the DBP in this campaign event very well.

Thanks to Rob for the call.

  12. After spending some time crafting my own follow up, Sam did a much better job recapping our call, so suffice to say:

Thanks Sam for taking the time to hear our position and restating here so well. It was a pleasure speaking with you.

  13. Tychon says:

It’s always nice to see that Sam still see’s the glass as half empty. Keep it up you awesome community builder?

  14. John Galt says:

Jay Inslee has come out AGAINST the coal terminal. I wonder how that fits in with the Democrat platform to approve the terminal?

Jay Inslee’s poll numbers jumped nine points the day he announced his opposition to the coal terminal. I wonder if will change that position as his campaign picks up speed.

  15. Sam Crawford says:

My glass is full today… beautiful day for a downtown walk. Wish I could go, but I have a meeting at 12:30. Have fun everyone!

  16. AFY says:

Hopefully Jay doesn’t QUIT in the middle of the walk, don’ t ya know!

Is Leslie Langdon on vacation or is she getting paid today?

    AFY!!theheelotsheepdog!!!

Sam, I hope you will have the same question for the Chamber of Commerce.
