Cathy Lehman has announced that the kickoff of her campaign for the Ward 3 seat on Bellingham’s City Council will be Thursday, May 5th from 5-7pm at the new Pickford Film Center, 1318 Bay St.
Boundary Bay Brewery beer, snacks and jazz tango by Bar Tabac will be available.
A “‘Vote Cathy Lehman” campaign film short will be shown on the Pickford’s big screen.
“One of my central campaign issues is downtown economic development, and the city’s need to promote a business-friendly, family-friendly vibrant urban core that attracts high wage jobs and residential choices, and creates a positive ripple effect city-wide,” Lehman said in a press release. “We purposely chose a kickoff party site that embodies the values of the campaign through a revitalized downtown location. I really want to highlight the incredible results of this successful public-private partnership, and what’s possible with vibrant economic development in the urban center of Bellingham.”
Lehman is a graduate of Western Washington University, and holds a certificate in Sustainable Business from Bainbridge Graduate Institute. She reports that she has been working in community development for more than a decade in Bellingham. She is Whatcom County Chapter Director for Futurewise, where she works to protect farms and stop sprawl. In addition to her full time director position, Cathy manages the swing shift on weekends with the Lighthouse Mission’s Agape home, a transitional housing service for women and children.

OMG!
There goes the City of Bellingham if this woman wins!
What we have now may not be pretty, but if a Futurewise exec wins, we WILL be in serious trouble.
And please all you subsequent posters, don’t ask for specifics. You already KNOW exactly what I’m talking about. Try lawsuits against businesses, try trespassing on people’s property under the guise “authorized by DOE”: to insure people’s compliance with the laws (shades of police tactics).
Nope. if this womean wins we’re in for really BIG trouble. It will make Jack Weiss look like a cuddly lamb!
And don’t forget everyone: this succesful public-private partnrship was way more public – as in you and me paying even if we didn’t want to.
Wow, I can’t tell if edward is going for satire, or if he is serious. Because if it was intended to be a parody, spot on!
Edward, you are HILARIOUS.
Edward, at least she can decide what she’s running for. Hey Barry, have you made up your mind as to what office you care about yet? Barry doesn’t have my vote.
I may have missed something beyond her web site’s moving photograph’s. So what does she stand for again?
I’m a Cathy Lehman fan, and I am voting for her because of her strong commitment to revitalizing our downtown business community. We need a 24/7 economy running in downtown Bellingham, and Cathy has the commitment and connections to get our urban core running again. That’s why I’m voting for Cathy.
Well ok #1 Fan thank’s. Now what has she actually done to support your comment in those specific fields?
