From Stark:
The National Institute on Money in State Politics has provided a fascinating set of online maps that illustrate Republican gains in state legislatures across the nation.
Here’s the press release from that organization, with links to view the maps.
Helena, MT–State legislatures saw an extreme shift in power after the November 2010 elections. More than 6,100 partisan legislative seats were up for election in 45 states, and at the end of the day, 794 (13 percent) had switched party hands. Of those seats that switched, 732 went to Republicans, 46 to Democrats, and 16 to third-party candidates.
The Party Control Map, created by the National Institute on Money in State Politics, color-codes state house/assembly and senate districts by party, and also indicates if the seats changed party hands. Most of the takeover occurred in the House chambers, where 629 seats changed party hands. Republicans took 585 seats previously held by Democrats or third-party lawmakers. By comparison, just 30 seats changed to Democratic control, and 14 changed to third parties.
Senate chambers experienced similar changes, with 147 of the 1,146 seats changing to Republican control.
The nonprofit, nonpartisan National Institute on Money in State Politics collects and analyzes campaign contribution information on state-level candidates, political party committees, and ballot committees. Explore the free, searchable database of contributions online at FollowTheMoney.org.

The link doesn’t show union donations. Isn’t that a legitimate “follow the money” issue?
As to the national earthquake of 2010 and the tsunami that followed in the state’s themselves where there are aftershocks right now in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and more however methinks the really big one has yet to come, can’t wait till 2012!

John: When I click on “Top 10,000″ donors, the first thing I see is National Education Association, popularly known as the teachers’ union.
If what is happening in Wisconsin spreads, you won’t be getting the same view in the future when you make that click, don’t ya know!

John, I missed that. I wonder where the SEIU stands on the list. I have a feeling that the Obama administration is not going to be so popular with the teachers’ union after they force the end of last in, first out, better known as teacher tenure.
One can only hope….that the GOP, in their infinite ass wipe ignorance have once more stepped in it….

You folks might want to check out the editorial in yesterday’s NZ Herald by a woman named Tapu Misa, about the Christian connection to the Wisconsin union debacle….

That’s quite a seismic shift there. My feeling is voters felt the country was moving in the wrong direction, or perhaps the Obama administration was moving to swiftly in a direction that over-looked current economic problems such as unemployment and slow growth, and an ever increasing deficit. I really don’t think campaign donations were as big of an issue as they were in the 2008 presidential campaign.
