Good point.
In Washington the position is nonpartisan,
but in Florida in 2000, the job was an adjunct of the rest of the Republican machine.
With predictable results.

Congratulations on what is no doubt an important job. Too bad we didn't have someone of Secretary Reed's caliber in Florida in 2000.

Congratulations to Sam Reed!

It's rare that public officials receive accolades like the one above. We should be proud of our state. It scores very high in government performance surveys.

In fact, the state received an A- from the PEW Government Performance Project. Only two other states matched us. Utah and Virginia. That means Washingtion is among the top three states in the nation.

Washingtonians have much to be thankful for when it comes to accountability in state government!
