Whatcom County sisters get AP notice during GOP convention

June 14th, 2010 9 AM PST by Sam Taylor - The Bellingham Herald

Via one of my bosses, who saw this come through the AP wire feed:

Sisters Carol L. Simmons, left, and Jo Ann Heay, both alternate delegates from Whatcom County Washington, show off their t-shirts supporting the Washington Federation of Republican Women during the Party in the Park put on by the GOP in Esther Short Park on Friday June 11, 2010 in Vancouver, Wash. The two sisters expect to be promoted to full delegate status because of absences at the Washington State Republican Convention.(AP Photo/The Columbian, Zachary Kaufman)

*UPDATE* - Whatcom County Republican Party Chairwoman Luanne Van Werven has also put up on her blog a bunch of photos from the event, right here.

Said Van Werven:

What an amazing event! The grassroots workshops are phenominal and helpful. The energy is palatable and I don’t think I have ever seen anything like it.

Colorful ladies. Good for them. Still I can’t figure out why Republicans like oxymorons so much. ;)

Great pictures. What an homogeneously diverse group. Clearly the photographer was unable to wide angle the entire room of hundreds since less than 100 can be seen. They must have purposefully hidden the other two hundred just off camera, since the fact of huge numbers in attendance had to be concealed.

But again what a diverse group. I think I see both blonds and brunettes. ;)

I knew they were Republicans before I even read the title of the story.

Shaun, are you sure you didn’t Teach facetiousness? ;-)

Facetiousness at this level can’t be taught. I’m Irish. It’s a gene thing. One must have a deeply embedded sense of sarcasm and irony and lack the free will to control it.

Do you think she meant that the energy was palpable or tasty?

    Camille..
    My thoughts exactly!

And with the Didier campaign pin, I gotta think those hats have seen a tea bag or two hanging from them in their day…

Astute Trixi. Or was the energy not all that great but palatable?

Meh, not much of the event would have been palatable to me, but I don’t wear teabags.

Sit these girls down in front of the telee. This is a job for What Not to Wear. ;)
