From Republican U.S. Senate candidate Craig Williams just now via e-mail:
Vancouver, WA January 22, 2010 – Craig Williams, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate today issued this statement concerning Senator Patty Murray’s criticism of Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling concerning corporate political spending.“Senator Murray’s criticism of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling is wholly inconsistent with her campaign taking millions of dollars in corporate PAC money. You can’t call the ruling a “mistake” and then put both hands out to accept corporate campaign money.
This is exactly the type of political gamesmanship that voters rejected in Massachusetts and precisely why we need a change in Washington’s Senatorial leadership. Senator Murray needs to stop bailing out “Wall Street, big insurance and corporate boardrooms” and stop taking their PAC donations before criticizing their influence on the democratic process.”
About Craig Williams:

Just a note to folks who are not yet familiar with Williams :
He is the most refreshing of the large group of people running against Patty Murray. When he talks, he doesn’t sound like a professional trade show vendor-presenter (Widener), or a Sarah Palin style angry populist (footballer Didier). Williams is very focused on the federal debt and deficit, and DC’s bad habits, and he’s not afraid to deliver bad news that the crowd might prefer not to hear.
He ran as a fiscally responsible Democrat in a primary against incumbent Jay Inslee in the 1994 Gingrich landslide takeover, and is critical of both major parties. He is running as an R this time, probably based on his assessment of the political climate.
Guys like Craig Williams seldom get onto the November ballot. I imagine that Didier will win the primary, and get a very enthusiastic 44% in the general election.
