Rep. Morris continues war against machines (paging John Connor)

Written by | The Bellingham Herald | January 6, 2009

morris_resizeRemember last week when I scooped the House Democrats on their own news?

Well it looks like they were serious about wanting to win that battle with me from now on, because now it seems they’re simply not sending me their press releases for our local legislators at all.

*UPDATE* – Confirmed, right here, they totally withheld that thing. And I ain’t no Woodward or Bernstein, Mr. Paribello. I get my hair cut.

This one was posted up about 30 minutes ago over at their blog, which discusses more legislation from Morris on radio-frequency identification issues. Morris is concerned that more and more products are containing these devices and they may be used to infiltrate a person’s privacy.

Morris is our only local legislator to have prefiled a single bill prior to the session starting, so he’s on top of things and ready to roll.

Sounds like he’s got his tin foil hat all folded.

How do they expect to get a “Press” Release “released” unless they send it to them?? Isn’t that the point of one….to get the word out in as many places as possible?

It was allegedly sent to me and never made it, I was told. I’ve been given an apology and I appreciate it. Really, the staff of both the Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate have great and friendly staff. They make my job quite easy for being a reporter that doesn’t work in an Olympia bureau.

Now, now, don’t go thinking there’s some conspiracy. Yes, Morris’ release was posted to our blog first BUT I followed it with the release to the press corps within about 20 minutes. LD is right: Why would I hide a press release from the press? Sam, to his credit, just noticed it before I got around to it. Like I said, he’s a voracious devourer of legislative news apparently. And a little light-hearted competition once in a while is a good thing. Keeps ya sharp.
