On Saturday afternoon, the first batch of students from the Bellingham campus of Charter College will graduate.
About 60 students will be receiving their medical assisting degrees or associate degrees in accounting and bookkeeping.
The ceremony will be at noon at the Mt. Baker Theatre.
Charter College, which opened its Bellingham campus March 1, 2010, is a private school that tends to educate adults who are trying to redirect their path in life. The school is career-focused, with students having job-site experience before graduating, and many students have jobs lined up when they receive their degree, said Dawnelle Fish, career service officer and employer relations.
“We feel a lot of the students are basically having a second chance at life,” Fish said.
