You’ve gotta love a parade, especially the Ski to Sea parade! I go every year, and this year I thought I’d post up some photos of the local high school bands strutting their stuff.
Great performances everyone! Note, Sehome, you guys did a great job, but my camera had issues as you were marching by and I didn’t get a good photo. If anyone has one that they want to provide to post, please email me.

Ralph Pauley Award: Bellingham High School Alumni Band

I am wondering who the Ralph Pauley is that you have the honorary award for. I am looking for my old High School band director from Del Rio, Texas from 1956-1960. Could you give me an idea who your Ralph Pauley is. Thanks. Judy

He was the long-time director of the Bellingham High School band and then the BHS alumni band several years later. From my recollection, he was in Bellingham after the dates tyou mentioned, so it could be the same person. However, the Bellingham-based Ralph Pauley died a few years ago.
I hope this helps.

I am a Trustee on the Steveston Community Society Board. We are the sponsors of the Steveston Salmon Festival held annually on July 1st, Canada Day in Richmond, British Columbia. To begin our festivities, we have a parade with between 50,000 – 75,000 people in attendance. One of the areas we are attempting to improve is the number of marching bands participating in our parade and I was wondering if you would have a list of the various marching bands and the contact persons name and email address. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

In Whatcom County, the marching bands are run through the various schools. Usually the school band teacher is the marching band instructor. I don’t have a list of all the different teachers, but you could contact the Whatcom County schools and get a hold of them that way. The school year starts next week for most many districts, so I would suggest contacting them after the first weekend of September (allowing them time to get settled for the new year).
I hope this helps,
