Bellingham Dollars for Scholars gives out 94 scholarships

Bellingham Dollars for Scholars earlier this week awarded scholarships to 94 high school students from Bellingham.

The scholarship program, which is now part of the Whatcom Community Foundation, is in its eighth year.

This year’s recipients (listed by who provides the scholarship)

Anvil Corporation Scholarship - $1,000 – Katherine Bachenberg, Sehome High, to attend the University of Washington

Bellingham Association of School Employees (BASE) Scholarship – $1,000 – Chase Neilan, Bellingham High to attend Whatcom Community College; Jesus Anaya, Squalicum High to attend Bellingham Technical College.

Bellingham Dollars for Scholars Advisory Committee Scholarship – $500 -Nick Senger from Options High; Kayla Gray from Sehome High; Emily Zender from Sehome High.

Bellingham Bay Rotary Scholarship – $1,000 – all from Squalicum High - Andrew Forhan to attend Whitworth University, Madeline Horne to attend Oregon State University, Kamalulokelani Kauai to attend the University of Washington, Andrew Murry to attend Western Washington University, Gladys Serrano to attend Western Washington University, Brianna Milligan to attend Western Washington University.

Bellingham Central Lions Club Scholarship - $1,500 – Claire Leischner, Bellingham High to attend the University of Washington; Krista Dixon, Sehome High to attend Western Washington University; Nikole Barber from Squalicum High to attend the University of Washington.

BHS Class of ’53 Scholarship – $500 - Sam Chue, Sehome High School to attend Western Washington University

Bob & Echo Dorr Scholarship – $500Chloe Mahar, Bellingham High School, to attend the University of Washington.

BP Cherry Point Refinery Scholarship – $1500 – Seika McCoy, Squalicum High, to attend the University of Washington

Brett & Daugert Scholarship – $1,000Shelby Stamm, GRADS, to attend Bellingham Technical College.

Brett Allsop Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 – Ian Krause, Squalicum High, to attend Western Washington University

Randle & Amy Carr Scholarship – $500 – Maggie Erhardt, Bellingham High, to attend the University of Washington

Emergency Department Nurses – $500 – Christine Cook, Squalicum High, to attend Seattle Pacific University

Fielding Formway Scholarship – $1,000 – Meridith Morrow-Okon, Squalicum High, to attend the University of Washington

Fourth Corner Elite Car Club Scholarship – $500 – Adrian Torres, Bellingham High School, to attend Bellingham Technical College

Gage Yates Memorial Scholarship – $1000 – Forrest Reece, Bellingham High, to attend Bellingham Technical College; Ryan Mackenzie, Sehome High, to attend Western Washington University; Ashley Minshall, Bellingham High, attend Bellingham Technical College.’

Haggen Family Scholarship – $500 – Sydni Baumgart, Sehome High, to attend the University of Washington

Heather Marie Engels Memorial Scholarship – $500 – Laura Wigen, Bellingham High, to attend Whatcom Community College

Joan Beardsley Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 – Lauren Bruce, Sehome High, to attend the University of Washington

John Warden Memorial Music Scholarship – $500 – Max Keyes from Bellingham High to attend Lewis & Clark College

Key Bank Scholarship – $1,000 - Kylee Clark, Bellingham High, to attend Seattle Pacific University; Robyn Morris, Squalicum High, to attend Biola University

Kyle Roger/Class of 2009 Scholarship from Squalicum High for $1,000 - Keith Stackhouse to attend University of California, Los Angeles; Taylor Ulrich to attend Scripps Institute of Oceanography

Lake Whatcom Garden Club Scholarship – $500 – Taylor Brown from Sehome High to attend Whatcom Community College

Leslie & Tim Farris Scholarship – $1000 – Tanicia Komac, Bellingham High, to attend Bellingham Technical College

LeVelle Vel” West Memorial Scholarship – $500 – Rebecca Donato, Bellingham High, to attend Western Washington University; Antoinette Munn, GRADS, to attend Bellingham Technical College

Lori Poad Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 – Andrew Czarnecki, Squalicum High, to attend Yale University

Macpherson Music & Math Scholarship – $1,000 – Meagan Dooley, Squalicum High, to attend Loyola Marymount University

Margaret Jewell Scholarship – $500 – Kayla Francisco, Bellingham High, to attend the University of Washington

Margie & Steve Kimberley Character Scholarship – $1,000 – Madison Smith, Sehome High, to attend Bowdoin College

McEvoy Family Scholarship – $500 – Alexis Ballew, GRADS, to attend Bellingham Technical College

Metcalf Hodges PS Scholarship – $500 – Jake Zlotek, Sehome High, to attend Western Washington University

NW Emergency Physicians Scholarship – $500 – Daniel Gibson, Squalicum High, to attend the University of Washington

Paul Clarke Memorial Scholarship – $4,000 – Kimball Gainor, Bellingham High, to attend Western Washington University

Paul Skaggs Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 – Andy deRuiter, Bellingham High, to attend the University of Alaska

Robert D Frazier Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 – Devin Pearsall, Bellingham High, to attend the University of Washington

Roy and Carol Ericsson Scholarship – $1000 – Danielle DeLisle, Bellingham High School, to attend Whatcom Community College

Settlemyer Family Scholarship – $1,000 – Kendra Bendure, GRADS, to attend Bellingham Technical College

Steven A. Dember Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 from Sehome High – Benjamin Fox to attend the University of Washington
