Bellingham School District 2009 Senior Stars

The Bellingham School District is honoring 32 graduating seniors tonight by naming them the 2009 Senior Stars.

Students were selected by school, with each setting their own criteria. Honorees are listed by school, as provided by the Bellingham School District.

Bellingham High School – selected seniors based on their ability throughout their high school experience to live out the school’s collective commitments, which are: to treat all members of the BHS community with dignity and respect, to take care of the school, and to expect quality work all the time from all facets of the school and community.

Calvin Atkins, Christopher Ballou, Rebecca Friday, Kramer Kales, Erin Peterson, Claire Rachor, Sierra Rivers, Julianne Thoma, Rachel Thomas, Christopher Thorsvik

Options High School/GRADS Program — the district’s alternative high school, and the Graduation Reality and Dual-Role Skills (GRADS) teen parent program, selected seniors based on their ability to overcome adversity in their pursuit of excellence.

Maya Green and Demaris Reyes

Sehome High School – selected students based on their outstanding accomplishments in one or more of the following areas: academic excellence, community service and citizenship, school involvement and leadership or personal growth.

Marcel Ardens, Margaret Landis, Lauia Lamositele, Sara Matijascic, Gracie Mueller, Benjamin Phillips, Titus Rhode, Bryn Smith, Jamilah Williams, Thayne Yazzie

Squalicum High School — selected based on rigorous course choices students made during high school and the excellence they attained in all classes.

Pamela Bauthues, Sophie Curl, Keith DeReese, Aaron Doud, Nicola Follis, Daniel Herda, Kyle Hooper, Drew Morrill, Lindsey Nakatani, Jake Turk
