Parents interested in the changing school boundaries in the Ferndale School District can listen in on a boundary task force meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.
The meeting will take place at the Ferndale School District Office, 6041 Vista Drive.

Fix North Bellingham Elementary, like they should have in the first place and re open as an elementary school! Who did the building evaluation in 2007 to the main building? Who would benefit from that evaluation? The building would be easy to fix! Is there any conflicts of interests here? What happened to the 1.2 million dollars of 2006 bond money for that main building? Do any board members have children either going or have gone to windward high school? Who lied about the condition of the walls in the main building?
We live in a subdivision where the boundary goes right through the middle of. Half of it is Blaine, the other is Ferndale. There is only one way in and one way out and the Ferndale busses have to come into the Blaine district to pick up the Ferndale district kids. Does that seem right? Not to me as a parent, specially when we are closer to the Blaine School District then we are to Ferndale. I wish I had known about this meeting so that we could have attended.
Alex Roll, I was at a meeting back in 2005/2006, if I recall correctly, Mark Deebach stated that 1.2 million was used on BLUEPRINTS for Cascadia. Ferndale School District has really blown it.
Thanks Ferndale resident for the info! What a shame when they could have fixed the main building at North Bellingham elementary fairly inexpensively with a seismic upgrade and roof repair! One of the current board members said in their election campaign in 2009 that they would like to rebuild North Bellingham elementary to its former self in the record journal! Was is taking so long or was that to get elected again!
