Pot more popular than cigarettes for Washington students

The survey included more than 5,000 students in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 in Whatcom County, with similar results to the state numbers. Statewide, about 10 percent of 10th-graders reported smoking at least one cigarette in the past 30 days, and 23 percent said they’d had a drink in the past 30 days. The percentage of 10th-graders who’d smoked marijuana in that time was nearly double the number that had smoked cigarettes.
