Map shows Puget Sound area residents income percentage toward housing, transportation

Here’s an interesting map tool from the Center for Neighborhood Technology. It allows you to see on a map where people are spending 30 percent of the median household income (nearly $51,000 a year) on housing, up to 48 percent on housing and transportation and up to 45 percent on housing and transportation (this is considered affordable).

Click here to see the map tool for the Puget Sound area, the nearest to us.

The Chicago-based group focuses on sustainable communities, specifically looking at transportation, energy and natural resources, among others. Click here to see a report written by the group looking at households’ transportation and housing costs.

I found this group after reading this story in The Arizona Republic.
